This ministry was founded in 2002, by Pastor Theresa Brown, and was designed to help women get a clean start. Its name was taken from the Biblical account recorded in John 4; which tells about how one woman, who had a true encounter with Jesus Christ, impacted her whole community for good…and that is its desire for those all who come here, as well.
In September, 2009, Woman at the Well opened a discipleship home for women, specifically designed for those who are in transition due to separation, divorce, domestic violence, homelessness, and the inability to support themselves on what they make, etc. We provide a clean, safe, and drug and alcohol free environment in which women can be taught practical precepts for living based on Biblical principles, and receive life skills training to better prepare and equip them to become productive and self-sustaining members of society. This home would not be suitable for women who are struggling with drug and alcohol addictions, as they require a more structured environment than this discipleship phase offers.
Unfortunately, this home is for women, only; but as the Lord leads and provides, it is our vision to open additional homes in the future. Hopefully, soon we can open one designed for women and their children.

Woman at the Well is administered by a Board of Directors. It is a non-profit, charitable, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) Corporation, exempt from state licensure. All donations are tax deductible.
About the Founder:
Theresa R. Brown, Founder, President, and Executive Director of Woman at the Well, has worked alongside her husband for over 35 years in full-time ministry. She is an ordained minister and has earned diplomas, both, in Ministry and in Addiction Studies. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with a major in Biblical Studies and a minor in Counseling. Theresa presently pastors, with her husband, at The Gathering, in Okeechobee, Florida.
She and her husband, Mike, are the parents of two married sons and the grandparents of six grandchildren.
