This ministry was founded in 2002, by Pastor Theresa Brown, and was designed to help women get a clean start. Its name was taken from the Biblical account recorded in John 4; which tells about how one woman, who had a true encounter with Jesus Christ, impacted her whole community for good…and that is our desire for all of those who come to The Well.
In September, 2009, Woman at the Well opened a house for women, specifically designed for those who are in transition due to separation, divorce, domestic violence, homelessness, the inability to support themselves on what they make, etc.
We provide a clean, safe, and drug and alcohol free environment. This home is not suitable for women who are struggling with drug and alcohol addictions, as they require a more structured environment than we provide.
Unfortunately, this house is for women, only; but as the Lord leads and provides, it is our vision to open additional houses in the future. Hopefully, soon we can open one designed for women and their children.

Woman at the Well has a vision of other “Wells” springing up in Okeechobee, each one targeting and addressing a specific need and service to women.

Woman at the Well is administered by a Board of Directors. It is a non-profit, charitable, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) Corporation, exempt from state licensure. All donations are tax deductible.
