The Gathering serves the Body of Christ through its numerous ministries. Please contact us if you would like more information about any of these opportunities.

Music Ministry

Praise & Worship Team
Giving praise to our Heavenly Father and worshipping the King of Kings is the goal of our music ministry at The Gathering, Our desire is to create an atmosphere of worship for all ages. We sing a blend of modern and contemporary praise and worship songs, as well as some of the sacred hymns of the church, like Amazing Grace. Pastor Mike Brown leads our Praise & Worship Team.

Choir

Pastor Theresa Brown leads our choir. The choir sings the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month, with a break during the summer months. Choir practices take place at 7:00pm on the Thursdays preceding the Sundays the choir sings. If you would like to sing in the choir, call the church office at 863.357.4118.

Care Team

This ministry provides food for funerals and when someone is ill due to serious illness or surgery. The team also assists with bridal and baby showers, as needed. To serve in this ministry or find out more information, please call Donna Summerall at 863.763.4992.

Hospital/Nursing Home Visitation

Ministering to those who are in the hospital or a nursing home is the heart of this ministry team. We minister to the Okeechobee area as well as surrounding counties. If you have a heart for those who are sick or shut in, please consider serving in this ministry. Contact Chuck and Fern Schara at 863.467.8548 to serve in the Okeechobee area, or Jimmy and Lurlene Gibbs at 772.597.3642 for outlying areas.

Healing Team
The Gathering holds to the truths in God's Word, "...they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover..." Mark 16:18. During our Sunday Morning Worship service, there is a time during which our elders lay hands on and pray for those who need healing in their physical bodies. Overcomers

The Gathering is pleased to host this support group for men each Tuesday at 7:30pm in the Fellowship Hall, focused on helping men gain victory over life-controlling issues. Please call Earl Culverhouse at 863.763.0139 or 863.634.6028 for more information.

Men’s Fellowship
The Men of the House (M.O.T.H.) meet for fellowship at different times throughout the year. This is a time to get to know one another, share testimonials and scriptures, and pray with each other.

Women's Fellowship
The women meet the last Saturday of each month from 9:00am-11:00am. It is a time of worship, study of God's Word, personal ministry, and relationship-building. Children and Youth Ministries

Wee Worshippers - newborn to age 4 - Sundays at 10:30am. The Gathering welcomes you and your child. We believe that ministry begins at birth, and we consider it a privilege to minister the love of Jesus to your child. Our Nursery/Preschool is staffed with volunteers from our congregation with a big heart to serve these little ones. Our rooms are creatively decorated and equipped to minister effectively to your child. We also have a nursing mother's room available.

King's K.I.D.S. (Kids in Divine Service) - age 5 to 3rd grade - Sundays at 10:30am. We know that children are very important to God and a very important part of the family of God. Proverbs 22:6 says to "Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Therefore, we consider it a privilege to partner with parents and other adult believers to train children to live their lives according to God's plan. Our class features fun activities, creative crafts, organized play time, praise and worship, offerings, and dynamic illustrated Bible stories that kids will remember for a lifetime. Our staff consists of volunteers from the congregation - people just like you and me.

The Gathering Cafe
The Gathering Place Café meets Sundays at 10:00am-10:25am in the Fellowship Hall. Come fellowship and relax in this informal setting before our regular Sunday service at 10:30am. If you have a heart for serving, this is a fun and dedicated ministry to join. It also offers a way to make new friends! This ministry also coordinates Church-wide fellowships, creating a warm, friendly, inviting atmosphere for those who attend. Greeters & Ushers
Our ushers seat people, pass out visitor cards, help administer communion, and answer questions as needed. Our greeters offer a smiling face, a warm handshake or hug, and a friendly greeting to make people feel welcome. Our greeters also provide quick information for first-time guests. To serve in either of these areas, or to obtain more information, please contact John Campbell at 863.467.0746.

Media & Sound

Though the message has not changed, the channel through which it comes has taken different forms. The Gathering uses modern technology to assist with the presentation of The Gospel. Prayer Ministry

Prayer Chain. If anyone is in the hospital or having outpatient testing and would like prayer, a team of believers prays for those individual needs. There is also a group who prays for all needs. Intercessory Prayer. On Sundays, a group meets at 9:30am in the Prayer Room to pray for the Sunday Morning Worship Service. We invite you to join us to pray for our church and our community.
